"In my view, Feminism is very important nowadays, because women are still oppressed in many sectors of life, for example: we're still being paid less than men are; we are objectified; society imposes a lot of patterns - not only about our bodies - but also about the way of living, the way THEY want us to live. We are afraid of walking alone because we can be raped at any time and the patriarchal society says that it's our fault. Feminism is not the opposite of machism. Feminism fights for equal rights and empowerment for women to be freer, more conscious and the owner over their bodies, their lives and themselves."
That speech was said by one of my students, Olga Miranda,
as a way to express her point of view about this issue
and support her argument based on facts.
